Whole30 Day 27!!

So I haven't posted in a while, but I thought I'd check in in my last couple days of this Whole30!! I thought I'd answer a few questions that everyone has been asking me. A lot of people have asked, what's next? Are you going to continue this? I guess the short answer is no. I'm not going to keep of restricting myself so strictly for the rest of my life. But I am going to have a much more restricted diet. I will probably be close to a Paleo diet - which is eating what only caveman were able to eat - and then with a "treat" or two throughout the week. I've also been asked a lot what on earth I eat... I eat a LOT of meat, nuts, fruit, eggs, potatoes, and salads. I have been cooking a lot more lately as I have gotten the hang of grocery shopping for approved products that I can put in my meals. Last night I made a suuuper yummy version of Zuppa Toscana, the Italian sausage, potato and kale soup from Olive Garden. I added my own little ingredients since ...

Whole30 Week 1

Image
So it's been a little over a week of this Whole30 thing and wow it is kicking my butt. I've been really working on time management because almost every meal on this diet requires 20-60 minutes of preparation, or 24 hours of defrosting meat, or some weird ingredient you have to get at Natural Grocers, etc. (The kind of food that is required for Whole30 is the type that takes you to stores that don't provide bags at all so I've been working on remembering to bring those too.) It's a whole new, difficult world of cooking for one... But don't let that fool you!! I'm happy to be doing it. It is going to be sooo rewarding I can already tell. I have to keep telling that to myself as my coworkers wag brownies and peanut butter chocolate bars and rice krispies under my nose. I've already been slimming down somehow. I have gotten a few comments even that others can tell! I've been taking some pictures of my progress as well, and it's reeeeally exciting. ...

Whole30!

Image
Tomorrow I am starting the Whole30 and I am a little bit intimidated. If you've never heard of the Whole30 or you don't really know what it is, it's basically thirty days of resetting your body with a huge change in diet. It has shown to really have an incredible effect, but it definitely doesn't come easily. For those thirty days, you can not have any sugar (honey, cane, processed), wheat (all gluten, pasta, all my faves pretty much), no alcohol, no dairy, no legumes (sadly no peanut butter, my favorite spoonful of happiness), and no processed foods (MSG, and all that good stuff we don't actually understand completely). Oh, and there is no calorie counting, weighing yourself, and ABSOLUTELY NO CHEATING. If you have one bite of something on that list, you have to start all over.  It was painful throwing out all of my groceries and restocking my fridge/pantry with a ton of very expensive organic groceries along with some oddities I've definitely never experienc...

My New Social Media!!

Image
Hey friends! My blog is going to be taking a turn for a little while/indefinitely. I’m going to be getting into a lot of cooking, with healthier and more organic foods, and will be posting a lot of recipes and pictures of (you guessed it) FOOD!! It’s been my goal for a while to get back into fitness and loving my body more, so I’m also going to be documenting my fitness journey. Yes, this is near New Year’s, but I really, really don’t love resolutions so this is more of just a way to continue my lifestyle change, but more publicly. I have been working on this for a few months now but I’m making some big changes pretty soon here (in my diet and workout regime) so I’m going to try and document it! Have never really been a lifestyle blogger... more of just a story-telling-personal-diary type blogger... so give me some slack if it’s a little messy at first. If you’re doing the same or even need some inspiration, message me!! (Because I always need more inspiration too.)  Ri...

Still Alive & Kickin (sorta)

I'm curious what age you actually start to feel like an adult. Because as of right now, I still get overwhelmed walking into Costco by myself, I congratulate myself after each week of 40+ hours of work just for making it, and I feel the need to take a picture of every "big girl" meal (aka anything other than mac and cheese or a microwave dinner) I eat. Whenever I thought about the day that I would move out and start paying all of my own bills, I figured that I would at least feel like I'm at the stage that I'm supposed to be doing it. But all I feel right now is annoyed, a tinge of nostalgia, and tired. So, so tired. Oh, and also broke. (THAT IS APPARENTLY A FEELING.) And instead of feeling older, I feel lost. I'm just being real here. I guess every new stage of life is probably going to feel this way because you don't understand what it will feel like until you're actually feeling it. I'm also learning that life is not so complicated if you actu...

Movin' On & Gettin' Over

Image
I'm here in Helena! I'm all unpacked and moved in, and most importantly, I have met some awesome people and love my job!! And since I have had a blog for quite a while now, I figure it's time to add some really blogger-esque things onto this lil' shindig. A picture of an acai bowl up top there that I made at work, and some pictures of my room with all the decor in place down below. (Ayyy, Target and Society6.) Alright. Glad I got those things out of the way. It's been pretty weird moving out to a new city with no easy way to meet new people, i.e. college classes or sports or something. Work, of course, is helpful, but as of right now, I'm still the new girl trying to not screw anything up there. And my roommates are awesome, but our schedules rarely overlap in free time. SO, I've been mostly hanging out with Tanner and his freshman football buddies. Don't get me wrong, it's seriously so fun. And I can tell they are all pretty comf...

Big Sky & Little Us

Image
It's officially go time!! I am headed to the Big Sky tomorrow!! I can't believe how quickly it has come. This isn't going to be a very long blog update, because I'd rather do a more lengthy one once I get there and have some actual new things to tell. Plus my room is going to be adorable (ideally), so I'm going to want to share pictures of that. I thought I would include Tanner and I's very first picture together, about two years ago...for effect I guess. High-school sweethearts, then long-distance relationship, and now to moving out to Helena together. Can't wait to be his biggest fan on the sidelines of his college football games too. Already got my Carroll gear, and thankfully I look good in purple ;) Friends and family, if you would like my address for any reason (out of curiosity, to write letters, or to give me an anonymous Golf magazine subscription again, etc), just comment or message me! I'm potentially moving for the next few years...
