Whole30!
Tomorrow I am starting the Whole30 and I am a little bit intimidated. If you've never heard of the Whole30 or you don't really know what it is, it's basically thirty days of resetting your body with a huge change in diet. It has shown to really have an incredible effect, but it definitely doesn't come easily. For those thirty days, you can not have any sugar (honey, cane, processed), wheat (all gluten, pasta, all my faves pretty much), no alcohol, no dairy, no legumes (sadly no peanut butter, my favorite spoonful of happiness), and no processed foods (MSG, and all that good stuff we don't actually understand completely). Oh, and there is no calorie counting, weighing yourself, and ABSOLUTELY NO CHEATING. If you have one bite of something on that list, you have to start all over.
It was painful throwing out all of my groceries and restocking my fridge/pantry with a ton of very expensive organic groceries along with some oddities I've definitely never experienced before like ghee... I'm doing this for so many reasons, though, so I just have to keep reminding myself of them. There's a picture of my beautiful lil' stocked fridge! (Excuse the stuff that doesn't really need to be in there.)
For me, this is hugely just to prove that I can do it. I CAN manage my time and my meals and my money and my health. I can treat my body and mind well! I'm determined to make this just the beginning of a very picky diet...picky in that I want to be so conscientious of what I'm putting into my body and exactly how it is going to affect me. This is more than just a weight loss kick!!!
I also am really excited to see the effects that just food can have on my mental health, my sleeping patterns, and my energy. If you've done the Whole30 before, I'd love to hear your thoughts and especially your favorite (on a budget) meals. Oh, and I'm going to try to post some pictures as well, so this is officially the start of my food obsession, or more specifically my happy tummy obsession (as opposed to my usual happy taste buds obsession... ice cream does the trick for the latter).
So here we go! Now I have to go through with this because it's on the interweb. Yep. Good night y'all. Tomorrow is going to rock!
P.S. Thank the Lord I like coffee black.
