My Generation & Why I'll Have to Agree to Disagree

Image
Millennials, that's what we're called. I can't give you an answer on whether or not that's a derogatory term or a compliment quite honestly. I see so many posts about how my generation is just a bunch of lazy technology addicts that will never realize what hard work can bring... I also see a bunch of posts from the complete opposite spectrum; This generation will be the greatest there ever was because of the resources and big ideas we have! I'm going to have to agree to disagree with both of those statements. If you don't mind, I'm going to be incredibly real in this blog post on this topic, and if you do mind... well... this is my blog. Reading optional... I'm going to start with the incredible things about my generation that are sometimes missed by some from the generations before me. 1. We have a way with technology. Mostly perceived as a negative trait, it can also be so impressive. I'm quite sure that we are the only generation so fa...

Stuck With You & Why I'm Not Excited to Finally Get Away

There are two types of people. Some like to look at the best case scenario and some look at the best case for the scenario. Two hugely different things. The first is someone that knows what would be "best" for them at any given time, and are usually unsatisfied with their current state. The second is someone that takes their circumstances and looks for the beauty in every aspect of it exactly where it is. Honestly, if we all take a close look at ourselves, a lot of us would probably not fall into the latter group of people. It's difficult to be faced with a hardship in life and be genuinely thankful for all of the blessings we do have. What I do know for sure, though, is that it's possible. It's possible to be given crappy deck after CRAPPY deck of cards and to still be positive. I know this because I grew up with Tiffany Ellen Bruland. Tiff... who is probably cringing that I included her middle name in this, who is probably embarrassed that she's even getti...

Why I Sing & Why It's OH So Awkward

Image
Singing... A subject that shouldn't be perpetually awkward but remains that way anyways. Basically a rule of thumb is just not to sing unless you're alone in your car or you're a pop star. Otherwise you are just seeking attention and it's awkward for everyone involved. The truth is, most singers  don't sing for you. Surprise! The last thing they want is to "show off what they got" or anything like that. Maybe I'm just speaking for me, since I almost puke every time I have to sing the National Anthem, but I don't think I am. I get a lot of different reactions when I sing, and that's why I'm just trying to explain all of this. The first reason I sing so much is I genuinely have so much fun. It's cheesy, it sounds dumb, but music is a part of me. Feeling the vibrations from a song or trying new keys to test my limits or even writing songs to show a feeling in the best way possible...Music rocks. I can't just listen. I have to sing! I g...
