Whole30 Day 27!!
So I haven't posted in a while, but I thought I'd check in in my last couple days of this Whole30!! I thought I'd answer a few questions that everyone has been asking me. A lot of people have asked, what's next? Are you going to continue this? I guess the short answer is no. I'm not going to keep of restricting myself so strictly for the rest of my life. But I am going to have a much more restricted diet. I will probably be close to a Paleo diet - which is eating what only caveman were able to eat - and then with a "treat" or two throughout the week.
I've also been asked a lot what on earth I eat... I eat a LOT of meat, nuts, fruit, eggs, potatoes, and salads. I have been cooking a lot more lately as I have gotten the hang of grocery shopping for approved products that I can put in my meals. Last night I made a suuuper yummy version of Zuppa Toscana, the Italian sausage, potato and kale soup from Olive Garden. I added my own little ingredients since I had some extra pre-cooked chicken apple sausage, and it sweetened up the spice of the red pepper flakes that I went a little crazy with. And the best part is, I have enough to last me for lunches or dinners for a few days! Leftovers are my absolute favorite thing in the WORLD now, which is the exact opposite of how I used to be. (Just ask my family, I used to bring half my plates home from restaurants and then never touch them again.) I also made up a new recipe that is my quick fix based off of a tuna cake recipe. I throw some strained tuna together with some eggs, coconut flour, garlic powder, dill weed, and onion powder. Then I cook it with some ghee in a skillet over medium heat and in about 6 minutes I take it off and mix it up with chipotle lime avocado oil mayo. Full dinner in about ten minutes and it's soooo good! Protein, good fats, and lots of flavor.
And... I have a confession to make. You are not technically supposed to weigh yourself or measure yourself during the Whole30, but I didn't follow that... But in 26 days, I have lost 11 pounds and definitely some inches off my waist/gut. I feel healthier and stronger and clearer mentally! I have been focusing more on getting my sleep and getting workouts in when I can. I don't know if allll of that is the Whole30's doing, or if it's just me growing and improving as well, but I am really feeling it.
That brings me to the last question that I get asked a lot... Do I feel better? So... Uh yeah. A whole lot better. That doesn't mean I'm not going to reward myself a little bit when I get done. As my treat on the first day of reintroduction to all the foods I've been boycotting, I got some gluten-free, dairy-free, and legume-free donuts!! It sounds pretty gross, I know, but I'm seriously so excited.
My last day is the 13th! So Valentine's Day, I get to eat a little of what I love!
