Land Down Under Post 6

It's so crazy that I'm going to be leaving in two days. Time for another adventure in an even more foreign land!
We could all use a bit more pink ;)

Thank you mama for this hammock that has treated Char and I so well!!

Getting Ready

We have all been preparing a ton for outreach overseas, and I think it's safe to say that that is the biggest thing on everyone's mind. That's speculation, my bad. But it's the biggest thing on my mind. We have been learning more about the cultures of the places we are going to and the environment we're about to be stepping into. My first four weeks will be spent in East Timor, so it's safe to say I will have little to zero contact with everyone back at home, so sorry! If we go into town and happen to find some wifi, I will post (maybe) once or twice just to send a public smoke signal that all is well. But I will be fasting from looking through social media or doing anything other than that, so if you have a baby or get engaged or find a cat video, you'll have to personally message me (WhatsApp)! The only bummer about this whole scenario is that I have to leave most of my new YWAM fam as we all go our separate ways to different parts of Asia. It's been a crazy ride with these folks, and I can honestly say that I've found some of the best lifelong friends in the whole WORLD. (Because they're from all over the world... haha)

Reiley dressing as me for our last themed party!

Fun early morning performance!

Streets & Lanes

In Toowoomba each year, there is a large music festival that includes lots of different venues all over town with many different acts. There's also farmer's markets and food trucks and booths, so it's really tons of fun!! Me and our newly formed "band," Dearly Beloved, got to perform three times at this event and I have never had more fun performing. Reiley, Charlotte, and I, with the help of Nathan and Jeffrey, got to dance and sing and get the crowd up on their feet as well! It is an experience I will never forget. We even got the opportunity of being the final act of the night! My friends are so talented and it was an honor to be up there with them, singing and making my public debut on the tambourine (proudly added to my repertoire)! Charlotte and I were asked if we were sisters (I wish), and even offers to buy our CD (which is nonexistent, mind you). Felt a little bit like a rock star, performing for the hundreds of people there that day, but mostly I just felt so joyful. I wouldn't have exchanged any of those moments for the world. (I am aware that I'm being extra sentimental because of the looming leaving date, but really, love these peeps.)

Excuse my dirty Spartan looking legs and look at the happiness :)

Recording Week!!

This is Kim, well, the back of Kim's head
The highly anticipated week finally came! All of us on the Music & Worship DTS have been busy writing songs to record and put on this school's album for the past couple of months (well, for some unnamed procrastinators, about a week). We all got to compose the songs in our own style and add as much or as little as we wanted. I wrote my song about leaving the ghosts of my past behind, and being unashamed because I am a new creation! My friend Daniel has been on a similar journey, so we collaborated and he rapped on the song for a verse. My friends Will and Charlotte helped me out with piano, violin, and harmonies, and my friend Nathan helped a ton with the beat and the bass. If I do say so myself, it's going to be a pretty groovin' song. It will probably be done near the end of summer or in the fall, and I'll make sure to share it so you all can see! Can't wait to hear the finished product. We have the awesomest producer; her name is Kim and she has unreal talent. She's seriously so selfless and one of the most genuine, cool people I've ever met. AND we accidentally booked the same flight home because she lives right across the border from me. She's my small group leader, too. I admire this woman so much. Wow. Anyways, it was really fun to record, and not near as scary as I thought it would be. Plus I got to help out with a few of my friends' songs as well. They're so so good I can't believe all the talent on this base!!
This was on an open mic night! This is me, Will, Charlotte, and Nathan

Well, I probably won't be able to write much while I'm gone. I'll do my best. But I'll take lots of pictures!! I'm really missing my family and Tanner (and his fam ;)), but it won't be too long before I'll be back! Then I'll have an even bigger family to miss. Til next time!
The beautiful Oz
